YEA Ambassadors and their roles

The Youth Employment Agency has embarked on a new path of creating sustainable, employable and skill developing initiatives which includes the setting up of a platform to prepare and connect job seekers and employers, train, build capacity and set up artisans and craftsmen in their works. The Agency has also ventured into Agric-based initiatives to create jobs in various rural communities across the country.

There have been numerous legitimate concerns by the public about the premise, role and criteria for the selection of some ambassadors who have been engaged for the purposes of promotion of these initiatives and business development.

The Agency is mandated to cater for the employment needs of all between ages 15 – 35 in all sectors. Ambassadors have therefore been selected from all sectors and the officials currently engaged includes bankers, politicians, business owners, journalists, entertainment icons and young and successful business people.

Artisan Directory initiative for example, require extensive sponsorship and partnerships with the private sector. As a result some icons who have already been dealing with the private and public sector have been contacted to drive the agenda for partnership. We have indeed had certain fruitful meetings with the influence of these ambassadors.

There is the need for the Youth and other stakeholders to be aware of these initiatives and also identify with us. Some ambassadors were also selected based on this.

It is important to note that all of these ambassadors are individuals who are passionate about youth empowerment and have expressed willingness to support the employment agenda in their own ways and especially as their social responsibility and it is very important to note that none of them was contracted or promised any financial gains. They are selfless individuals who have the wellbeing and prosperity of the Ghanaian youth at heart.

The Agency is engaging everyone who is passionate and want to support our cause of creating gainful employment for the youth.

We however acknowledge the concerns of the public on actions by certain individuals. The Agency has taken remedial steps to address all concerns.

We are open to ideas, support and funding from all stakeholders to make the agenda of drastically reducing unemployment in Ghana a success.
