Abirem Constituency gets educational infrastructure from MP

Mr John Osei Frimpong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abirem Constituency, has promised to help improve educational infrastructure to enhance enrolment in public schools in the constituency.

He explained that, the gesture would create a sound environment that would facilitate effective teaching and learning.

Mr Frimpong expressed the hope that, his efforts would enable many students to in the constituency to enter secondary schools to benefit from the government’s Free Senior High School (SHS) programme.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at New Abirem, Mr Frimpong promised to lobby to help address shortfalls in educational infrastructure in the area.

Mr Frimpong said he had already constructed a six- units classroom blocks at Sakapia, Temkyemso and Abenaso and a three- units classroom block at Akrofrofuso and Nkwarteng.

He said he had also provided an administration block and teachers quarters for the Amoana Praso SHS and Amunamu community and Abodom Kindergarten (KG) at Nwinso also benefited from three- units classroom block with ancillary facilities.

Mr Frimpong said, plans were underway to get GETFUND to fund the construction of six- unit classroom blocks at Tenkyemso, Abodom and Obourbetwawo.

The MP said he donated more than 1,000 mathematical sets to all final year JHS students who sat for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the district.

Mr Frimpong said for the past three years, he had financed ZAK Touching Lives Foundation, a non-governmental organization to organise quizzes for final year JHS pupils to prepare them adequately to write the BECE, which was making a significant impact and improving on the performance of the students in the area.
