Five killed in wall collapse after heavy rain in Kampala

Five people, including four children were killed on Sunday in a residential fence wall collapse following heavy rains in Uganda’s capital Kampala, a police spokesperson said.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, told Xinhua by telephone on Sunday that a mother, three daughters and a grandson were killed after a neighbor’s fence wall collapsed on their house in Seguku village, Makindye division, about 10 km southeast of the capital Kampala.

“We have so far retrieved four bodies and one is still remaining. Our teams are doing their best to retrieve the remaining body,” he said.

The police spokesperson said the head of the family (husband) survived the deadly incident as he had gone to the Mosque for early morning prayers.
